Toronto – May 23, 2024 – The Canadian Nuclear Isotope Council (CNIC) is proud to announce Mirion as its latest member. A leading provider of advanced radiation safety solutions, Mirion offers decades of expertise and a comprehensive suite of technologies to ensure safety, as well as product quality, at every stage of the radiopharmaceutical lifecycle. From isotope production to patient delivery, Mirion solutions help advance diagnostics and therapeutics to empower better outcomes.

In support of its mission to harness unrivaled knowledge of radiation for the greater good of humanity, Mirion partners with radiopharmaceutical producers and healthcare organizations to enable and accelerate critical advancements while maintaining safety for patients and workers. Its solutions and expertise enable isotope producers and radiopharmaceutical manufacturers to overcome safety barriers that restrict alpha emitter production, increasing availability and accelerating innovation, adoption, and growth of these treatments.

Mirion operates over 14 major industrial facilities including two in Canada – Cambridge, Ontario and Concord, Ontario. Dedicated to increasing education about the importance, role, and safe application of nuclear technologies, Mirion offers decades of experience and expertise, as well as a wealth of educational resources to inform the public and industry about protecting against the effects of radiation while harnessing its transformative potential. Together, the CNIC and Mirion will work to promote and advance educational efforts on the importance of radiation safety across all aspects of the nuclear medicine supply chain.

Mirion's membership in the CNIC marks a major milestone towards the CNIC’s mission of enhancing the delivery and safety of nuclear medicine and healthcare. Inspired by the growth in the Canadian and international market for medical isotopes, Mirion seeks to better engage with CNIC members in the industry to strengthen operations and address the needs of this dynamic, growing industry.

“We are proud to welcome Mirion to the CNIC’s diverse membership across the isotope supply chain, brought together by a shared vision of a safer, more efficient, and patient-centric healthcare system,” said, James Scongack, Chair of the CNIC. “Together, the CNIC and Mirion will work to harness the full potential of nuclear technology in medicine by increasing radiation safety for healthcare workers and patients and maximizing opportunities for patient care.”

"We are thrilled to join the ranks of CNIC's esteemed membership, united by a common goal of revolutionizing the isotope supply chain and advancing the healthcare landscape," said Steve Mettler, Acting Nuclear Medicine President at Mirion. “We look forward to applying our expertise in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging instrumentation, equipment, phantoms, and personal dosimetry, to advance safety and quality from isotope production to patient care.”

Steve Mettler will join the CNIC panel discussion, “Outfitting Hospitals for 21st Century Procedures” on June 6, 2024. He applies more than 30 years of experience in technical, commercial and management roles, most recently focused on expanding Mirion’s business applications in critical emerging markets including radiopharmaceutical therapy applications.
