Scope of Approval
Managing health and safety requirements, in accordance with local regulations, is critical to ensuring a strong nuclear safety program. Together, Mirion and NUVIA U.K. support sites in the UK with certified dosimetry services, including:
- Routine
- Accident
- Special Accident
- Radiation (Emergency Preparedness and Public Information) Regulations (REPPIR )
This certification includes assessment of whole body or part body doses due to external radiation, including X-rays, gamma-rays, and beta particles, in compliance with Regulations 22, 23, and 24 of IRR 2017.
Program Features & Benefits
- Comprehensive coverage extending to Mirion DMC 3000 dosimeter and all associated equipment and software as outlined in Nuvia’s Electronic Portal Dosimetry (EPD) Statement of Service.
- Accurate dose reporting that shows personal dose equivalent Hp(10) as 'whole body' effective dose (E), and Hp(0.07) as 'skin' equivalent dose (Hskin), ensuring precise and reliable dosimetry.
- Regulatory Compliance: All dosimetry services are HSE approved, adhering to the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.
- Extensive guidance and support from NUVIA throughout the approval submission and audit procedure, ensuring compliance with HSE requirements and successful application submission facilitated through NUVIA’s expertise.
- Operational Excellence: Our dosimetry system includes an operating manual compliant with client-specific QA procedures and requirements, covering EPD management arrangements, control of EPD equipment and training arrangements.
Dose Assessment Process
Dose assessment is achieved through a two-step process:
- Step 1: At the end of each month, the site generates and sends files to the Dose Assessment Software (DAS) from DosiServ, which includes data on people and visits. DAS computes and, if necessary, challenges some visits. Challenged visits are sent back to the site for investigation and correction.
- Step 2: DAS, after compliance checks, sends back the monthly official doses to the site and, if required, to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Record Keeping
After processing visit files and resolving any challenges, the data (e.g., period, dose information, person information) is exported from the Nuvia EPD System and is then uploaded to the person's legal dose record within the Nuvia organization.
Additionally, NUVIA offers:
- Monthly / Quarterly dose reports
- Provision of information to HSE where required
- Ad-hoc queries
