Mirion Equips Jordan Airports with Radiological Protection Systems

Two years after equipping Jordan's Aqaba Airport with our spectroscopic Radiological Portal Monitor (RPM), Mirion successfully completed additional installations at two more airports in Jordan, providing protection against the intrusion of illicit radioactive sources by screening people, luggage, vehicles and freight.

Fully satisfied with the team's solution at the Aqaba Airport, Eng. Luai Kiswani, Director of the Jordanian Nuclear Safety Department within the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission, also entrusted Mirion to install RPM equipment at the Marka Airport and Queen Alia Cargo Terminal, with our SPIR-Ident products. The installations were recently successfully completed.

Thanks to all Mirion staff, and in particular to the Research and Development team, who supported this complicated project. Many constraints related to the global pandemic could have slowed our progress, but we were able to overcome the difficulties by working remotely through new communication technologies.

Thank you also to the Detection and Measurement Division's Production Group and to the Purchasing Department for their agility and availability. They were able to adapt to our constraints to meet deadlines by providing very short turnaround times to meet the demands of new developments in the offer.
