Mirion Connect 2019 Welcomes 250+ Customers to New Mexico
From July 29 through August 2, 2019, Mirion welcomed over 250 customers representing 14 countries to our annual users’ conference, Mirion Connect, held at the Hyatt Tamaya in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico. Participants enjoyed a week of dynamic discussion, product and software demonstrations, and a variety of presentations, in addition to the unique venue with mountain views.
Two intensive days of training on Monday and Tuesday kicked off the week, with over 100 customers in attendance, before the conference officially began Wednesday morning. These training sessions are vital for our customers’ continued success and provide opportunities to earn Continuing Education Credits (CECs). Two days of in-depth training set the tone for a focused and engaged conference to follow.
The general sessions on Wednesday and Thursday mornings hosted a variety of speakers, from scientists to technicians and an author, followed by lively question and answer sessions. Wednesday’s keynote speaker Louisa Hall led an engaging discussion of the research behind her book Trinity, a novel on Robert Oppenheimer, father of the atomic bomb. She graciously stayed after her presentation to sign copies of Trinity and speak to the participants individually.
Thursday’s keynote speaker Erik Kambarian, co-founder of Clean Futures Fund, spoke about his experience establishing his non-profit organization to provide international support for communities affected by industrial accidents. His talk focused primarily on their work to help stray animals at the Chernobyl site.
We were delighted to welcome several customers to lead presentations during the general sessions as well. These included Jonathan Burnett from the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory; David Nickless from Environmental Management’s Los Alamos National Lab; Dr. Carola Gregorich from EPRI; and Ky Rowberry and Gary Hansen from BEA.
Our 7,000 sq. ft. demo room was open for three days where attendees experienced hands-on demonstrations while using Mirion equipment and brought their unique, pressing questions to our experts. Wednesday and Thursday’s schedules also included live demonstrations during the breaks.
The Mirion team is thrilled by the success of Mirion Connect 2019, and we thank all participants for making it another great year. We look forward to an even better meeting in 2020 as we gather in Boston July 27 – 31. Visit mirionconnect.com to get the latest updates.
